Where Lake Sinclair Boaters Tie Up for Dinner, and What Happens Next

Rick Millians, writing in the Union-Recorder in August, set a high bar for Lake Sinclair dining. He wanted "Dining on a porch ON the water," with the second "on" in capitals. The column followed a Nextdoor thread in which locals asked why the lake has nothing of the kind. A place where you can see the lake from 100 yards away did not count.

The thread came up with names anyway. Duke's, The Grill at Crooked Creek, Aubri Lane's and The Front Porch on Sinclair all got mentions, along with a few Lake Oconee spots. Read together, those names show that the useful question is what happens after you tie up. The view is about the same everywhere, and the last hundred feet between your cleat and your table differ a great deal.

Four Docks, Four Different Last Hundred Feet

Here is how each boat-up option works, based on the businesses' own descriptions and local listings. Hours are as posted by each business or its listing, and they vary by source, so call before you untie.

Place Where on the lake How dinner reaches you Posted days
The Front Porch on Sinclair Hwy 441, next to Little River Park, Milledgeville Dock, then a golf-cart ride up the hill if you call Wednesday through Sunday
Duke's Sinclair Marina Rd NE, Milledgeville Dockside service to your boat Listings conflict, call ahead
The Grill at Crooked Creek Marina Crooked Creek, east side, Eatonton Dock, walk in, order at the counter Friday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Aubri Lane's Adjoins The Club at Lake Sinclair Table service, boat-up slips for club members only By reservation

The golf cart at The Front Porch makes the arrival a ride up the hill. At Duke's the dinner comes to you and you never leave the boat. At Crooked Creek you tie up and walk in. At Aubri Lane's the dock is closed unless you are a member. That gives four arrival routines, and each suits a different kind of evening.

The Front Porch Changes the Fall Math

The Front Porch on Sinclair opened in May 2026 at 3065 N. Columbia St., the address of the old Taylor's Cove seafood restaurant. The Union-Recorder reported in April that the new restaurant would replace Taylor's Cove. Visit Milledgeville's May write-up says guests can boat up and dock, or use the on-site boat ramp. It lists a phone number, (478) 295-0351, for the golf-cart ride across the parking lot. The restaurant's own website says roughly the same thing, and the columnist quoted its line about a porch "pivoted at the water" for sunset watching.

Two details from the Visit Milledgeville piece matter for planning. Music from local players runs Friday and Saturday evenings, so those are the nights the porch is loudest. Wednesdays bring $1 jumbo wings in six- or twelve-count orders with your choice of sauce.

The posted hours are Wednesday and Thursday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from noon to midnight, and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m. A separate lunch menu runs noon to 4 p.m., and the kitchen closes at 9 p.m. Those hours were published in the restaurant's first weeks, so confirm them before a fall run. They do not list Monday or Tuesday.

One correction for anyone working from older boat-up guides. Lake Sinclair Life's 2025 guide still lists Taylor's Cove, and that restaurant has been replaced. If a friend says they are docking at Taylor's Cove, they mean this porch.

Duke's and Crooked Creek Sit at Opposite Ends of the Same Idea

Duke's works best for a short trip. Reviewers on Tripadvisor and Yelp describe pulling up to the dock and having food brought to the boat, and Visit Milledgeville's lake guide lists hamburgers, hotdogs and ice cream via dockside service. The menu is bar food, and reviewers say so plainly. Karaoke and live bands are part of the draw. Lake Sinclair Life's July 2026 event post said the kitchen opened at noon Friday through Tuesday for the Fourth of July weekend. Other listings show afternoon openings with different closing times, so a call before you go is the only reliable way to know the kitchen is running.

The Grill at Crooked Creek Marina serves the east side of the lake from 208 Crooked Creek Dr. in Eatonton. The marina describes it as fast-casual and open-air, with ceiling fans, a full bar, and a menu of fish tacos, burgers, wings, po' boys and chicken fingers. Diners order at the counter. The marina's website and its Yelp listing both show Friday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The marina's fuel dock is on site, which lets you fill up and eat on the same stop. One caution on the marina's event page. Its karaoke Saturdays listing runs September 6 through December 20 and appears to date from 2025, so do not plan around it for this fall.

For the northwest corner, Twin Bridges Landing at 611 Twin Bridges Rd. in Eatonton is a family-owned marina with a gas dock, a convenience store with live bait and tackle, and a quick-service kitchen. Visit Eatonton lists two launch ramps with a $5 fee. It works as a fuel-and-snack stop, since the marina's own description centers on the store, the gas dock and boat services. A sit-down evening belongs elsewhere.

Aubri Lane's Answers the Nextdoor Question for a Smaller Group

Aubri Lane's adjoins The Club at Lake Sinclair and serves what Lake Sinclair Life's guide describes as classic southern cuisine with a contemporary twist. Boat-up slips there are for members of the club, and the guide says so directly. For anyone who does not belong, it is a reservation and a drive. It belongs on the list because the Nextdoor thread named it, and it accounts for the "real waterfront dining" answer some commenters gave.

The Sit-Down Option Still on the Drawing Board

The biggest change to Lake Sinclair dining has not opened. Anchors Marina occupies the former Bass Boat House property at 140 Bass Rd. NE in Milledgeville. Developer Josh Sprayberry told 13WMAZ in March that the first phase covers new fuel pumps, new docks and improved boater access. The station reported that marina upgrades were targeted for completion this fall if approvals went ahead as expected, and that hotel construction might begin in early 2027. Sprayberry put the first seven acres at about $50 million.

Millians' August column adds the food side. According to his reporting, the marina ship store is planned to include a sit-down restaurant and quick-serve options. A four-story, 90-room boutique hotel on an adjoining parcel would have a water-view lobby restaurant and a rooftop bar. Today, Anchors offers a fuel dock and public launch ramps, with a $5 daily fee and ramps open around the clock per Visit Milledgeville. The restaurant and hotel are plans. Anyone counting on either this fall should plan around The Front Porch instead.

Matching the Day of the Week to the Dock

Because posted hours leave gaps, the day you go decides where you can eat. These are the openings as published, subject to a phone call.

  1. Monday and Tuesday. The Front Porch's posted hours do not list these days. Duke's is the option with a Monday or Tuesday kitchen on record, at least for the holiday weekend in July. Call first.
  2. Wednesday and Thursday. The Front Porch opens at 4 p.m., and Wednesday brings the $1 wings.
  3. Friday through Sunday. Every spot is in play, including The Grill at Crooked Creek, which is open only these days at posted hours. The Front Porch runs live music Friday and Saturday evenings.
  4. Any day, any boat. Check Georgia Power's water-level page before a long run to a dock you have not used this season.

The Nextdoor thread wanted one place that answered the question. Lake Sinclair has several, each serving a different kind of evening, and fall weekends give boaters the chance to find which dock suits them.
